Coffee syrups and sauces are usually sweet to offset the bitterness. Many have cookie or candy flavors (gingerbread, butterscotch) or taste like liqueurs (amaretto, Irish cream). Both are wonderful in coffees and hot chocolate. For smoothies, shots of fruit-flavored syrups add to the flavor mix.
